GR8 Savers Week 2019
*** GR8 Savers Week 6th – 12th May 2019 ***
National Credit Union GR8 Savers Week will take place from the 6th to the 12th May 2019. The aim of the initiative is to encourage young people (particularly primary school children) to develop a healthy savings habit in their local credit union.
To promote the week, a new creative style, using young characters has been developed. The style (which was also used to promote the Schools Quiz earlier this year) is colourful and vibrant. Children (and their parents) will be encouraged to rock on down to the credit union and become a GR8 Saver.
* All Week, Cois Sionna Credit Union will have Activity Sheets available to all our GR8 Savers. As well as posting daily Top Tips for GR8 Savers on our Facebook & Website.
Credit unions can use the week to showcase the tremendous work they carry out with young people in their areas – be it basic savings accounts, school savings schemes, youth committees, school credit unions, competitions, bursaries, scholarships etc.
Cois Sionna Credit Union in particular are very proud of all our Youth Initiatives – Our Annual Hurling Academy for U10 (Over 8’s) to U14 which is held twice a year, Our Annual U12 Hurling Blitz and U10 Football Tournament.
We continue to promote the Credit Union within our local primary schools by holding an ‘In School’ Credit Union once a week in participating primary schools within our common bond, as well as the collection of the very popular Sammy Stamps. And within participating secondary schools, we have a Financial Recourse called Clued-In which teaches second level students about personal finance. The resource helps them to explore their relationship with money, the good and bad, and to look at ways that they can make smarter, more informed decisions.
The Schools Quiz and Art Competition are our most successful initiatives with entries each year from our 16 Primary Schools, and 3 Secondary Schools.
